Pink Christmas

A number of years ago, one of my favourite magazines, Blueprint (alas, no longer in publication) featured a pink Christmas tree on its cover.  It was love at first sight.

I finally bought one of my own online from treetopia.com after Christmas last year.  I was very excited to finally take it out of the box!  I think it’s a little short with our high ceilings but still pretty cute.  I am using great restraint this year and not purchasing new decorations (except for the two or three I couldn’t resist); I used silver, gold and pink decorations, including my collection of ice cream cone and cupcake ornaments.

Do you remember the tissue paper pom-poms we made last June for my daughter’s grad?  Well, seeing that our tissue paper pom-pom skills were pretty well honed, we decided to put them to use!  My girls and I made half pom-poms to use as bows on our Christmas gifts.  We are making them in every size from tiny to huge and even constructing some out of newspaper.  Pink wrap doesn’t seem to be too readily available this year; we found a little, but most of our wrap will be newspaper and brown butcher paper – which we’re painting with pink, black and silver stripes, dots, and snowflakes.  I’ll post a picture when there are more to show, but we have a few done.

Best, I did not know you are a TL. Yes, Im in a family if educators too, with a hubby who is an asst principal. So he is going to raise cain when I start making half sized pom-poms for the fake presents that are to go under our library tree at school for Monday! LOL. Thanks for the wonderful pictures and BEST idea!! This is something I can take in and show my library club members and get them to go right to work on too! Feeling pumped about that tree now. I’ll try to send pictures via Dean I suppose.

Good luck with the pom-poms! I’d love to see your tree pics! BTW, you can get kids to make the pom-poms too – Martha (12) is an expert at them.
